Comet #2 - Alex Nino art & cover

Alex Nino
The Comet v1 #2, 1983 - Unlike the previous issue, Alex Nino does a better job at asserting his own style on the interior story. His inks sharpen Carmine Infantino's drawings, making the faces and figures much more distinct. Some layouts are more irregular than others, perhaps due to the lengthier page count (thirty pages). Regradless, Nino's finishes bring them all together cohesively and decisively. Sadly, the pieta-like cover has been done elsewhere with better execution. Although the series ended with this issue, the diagonally placed banner on the lower right proclaims this as "number 2 of 6" in a series. This is number 2 of 2 Comet issues with Nino art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Nino or Comet issues. See also this blog's Nino checklist.
