Captain America #107 - Jack Kirby art & cover

Captain America #107, 1968 - Enemies try to take advantage of the guilt stemming from Captain America's past. This nightmarish cover forcefully reveals the chaos of his innermost thoughts. Jack Kirby does a dependable cover design and like his previous Cap issues, is followed by a dynamic opening splash of the title hero. The figure's arms and legs are wildly foreshortened this time, but not to the point of distraction. Somewhat standardized grids and panel sizes contrast against Kirby's powerful drawings, and accentuate them further. Syd Shores' inking continues to impress, making him an equal partner in these artistic efforts. This is number 8 of 34 Captain America issues with Kirby art and/or covers. i loved syd's inks over kirby. they are way underrated. when i got the chance to do a kirby ink job (lightbox of course) I did my best to channel syd, figuring that everyone else was going to do sinnott or royer. a few people picked up on it!
