Durango Kid v1 #14, 1951 - The adventures of Dan Brand and Tipi take them on the high seas, away from their typical missions on the open frontier. Sadly, the quality of Frank Frazetta's art begins to decline. Compared to earlier issues, backgrounds are more simplistic and the characters' faces lack definition. The artist's only saving grace is the large first panel, depicting Dan Brand perilously walking the gangplank while sharks circle below. His oceanic waves are rendered in stunning fashion. Other artists in this issue include Joe Certa (Durango Kid stories).

Striking pre-code cover. The bad guy wins! Plus, we see a bit more definition in the foreground figure's glutes than necessary.
