Emergency #1 - John Byrne art + 1st issue

Emergency #1
Emergency v1 #1, 1975 - Charlton Comics secures the rights to the popular 1970s television show, and publishes both a magazine and regular-size comic book formats. For such an early work by John Byrne, his attempts to capture the likenesses of the actors is surprisingly good. The layouts are fast-paced, echoing the constant action of the tv episodes. Page fourteen experiments with drastically angled panels, a decent effect but perhaps used on the wrong scene. The first few pages are stronger than the rest, but overall not a bad effort indeed. Some panels in this issue were reused as small illos in text story "The Victim". This issue also includes artwork by Joe Staton. Cover by Staton. This is 1 of 3 Emergency issues by Byrne. /// key 1st issue
