Emergency #1 - John Byrne art + 1st issue

Emergency #1
Emergency v1 #1, 1975 - Charlton Comics secures the rights to the popular 1970s television show, and publishes both a magazine and regular-size comic book formats. For such an early work by John Byrne, his attempts to capture the likenesses of the actors is surprisingly good. The layouts are fast-paced, echoing the constant action of the tv episodes. Page fourteen experiments with drastically angled panels, a decent effect but perhaps used on the wrong scene. The first few pages are stronger than the rest, but overall not a bad effort indeed. Some panels in this issue were reused as small illos in text story "The Victim". This issue also includes artwork by Joe Staton. Cover by Staton.
