Wyatt Earp v2 #9 |
Wyatt Earp v2 #9, 1960 - Renegade indians, an old gold miner, and a terrified witness to a crime are just a few characters residing in this issue. Frequent close-ups of their faces establishes mood and intent, a hallmark of
Russ Manning's work. Each of his three stories is drawn with conciseness and clarity. The opening tale, "Bushwhacker Country", has especially fine vistas and open spaces (see interior page below). Most impressive is page 9 panel 3, depicting a pair of bushwhackers hidden in the darkened foliage. In the opening scene of "The Miner's Message", something rarely seen is placed on the lower right: the artist's initials. Photo cover. This is 9 of 13
