Western Bandit Trails v1 #1, 1949 - A pioneer couple finds themselves under attack by indians, although the entire scene still seems oddly calm. Rather than ducking under cover, Matt Baker curiously places them out in the open. That aside, the artist demonstrates his smooth brushwork and fine drawing skills. Even the dead branch on the foreground increases depth and visual interest. This issue also includes artwork by Howard Larsen.
