Amazing Adventures v3 #2 - Jack Kirby art

Amazing Adventures v3 #2 featuring the Inhumans and Black Widow, 1970 - Jack Kirby continues drawing the Inhumans, a society of super-powered outcasts he created in the pages of Fantastic Four. The opening splash features the ominously floating heads of the main characters, a technique he often used with varying degrees of success. The remaining pages contain panels that are too numerous and hectically paced, as if an original longer story was condensed at the last minute. Kirby's effort is just adequate and far from his best. John Buscema's art on Black Widow is more thoughtfully executed and he does the fine cover as well. This is number 8 of 10 Amazing Adventures issues with Kirby art and/or covers. That cover looks like Buscema is trying to channel Kirby (and not too well). Could the inks be by Chic Stone?

I think John Buscema's style is all his own here, but I agree it's not his best. I recently ran into some of his earlier non-Marvel works and they're terrific. May have to add him to the list someday. Not sure about the inks...

I believe the cover is inked by John Verpoorten.
