Christmas with the Super-heroes #2 - John Byrne art

Christmas with the Super-heroes #2
Christmas with the Super-heroes v1 #2, 1989 - Unlike its predecessor from the year before, this holiday issue features all new material. John Byrne breaks new ground with his depiction of World War I fighter pilot Enemy Ace. Completely without dialogue or captions, his artwork tells the story with clarity and confidence. Byrne utilizes a drawing style that pays homage to the character's original creators, Joe Kubert and Robert Kanigher. Joe's son Andy Kubert reinforces this with an inking style reminiscent of his father. Other artists in the copper age comic include Eric Shanower, Paul Chadwick, and a splendid Batman story by Gray Morrow (perhaps his only rendition of the hero). This is 2 of 2 Christmas With The Super-heroes issues by Byrne.
