Battleground #14 - Jack Kirby art

Battleground v1 #14, 1956 - A young solider struggles to survive trench warfare during World War I. Jack Kirby does a decent job laying out and penciling the tale. Some panels vaguely resemble his earlier 1940s work with partner Joe Simon. In his opening panel, soldiers hunker behind barbed wire while bullets whiz past. This bold wartime image is Kirby at his grittiest. Other artists in this issue include Russ Heath, Joe Maneely, Pete Morisi, Don Heck and Bill Benulis. This is number 1 of 1 Battle Ground issues with Kirby art and/or covers.
