Further Adventures of Indiana Jones #2 - John Byrne art & cover

John Byrne
Further Adventures of Indiana Jones v1 #2, 1983 - Although the cover and the opening splash page share the same scene, they could not be more different in tone. John Byrne's outer illustration is the more exciting of the two, grittier and darker in tone. Note his "hidden" signature on the inside of the pit, lower right. Despite the relatively tame first page and some sparse backgrounds, Byrne's visual storytelling is effective. Kudos also to inker Terry Austin, whose finishing touches are a significant contribution. The story's highlight is the final page: a splash depicting Indiana Jones in mid-skydive, ending one adventure and embarking onto the next. This is 2 of 2 Further Adventures of Indiana Jones issues by Byrne.
