Shield #1 - Jim Steranko cover

Shield v1 #1 marvel bronze age comic book cover art by Jim Steranko
Jim Steranko
(Nick Fury and his Agents of) S.h.i.e.l.d. v1 #1, 1973 - This short-lived reprint series contains Nick Fury tales from earlier Strange Tales issues. Jim Steranko, who drew many of these stories, commemorates this first issue with a brand new cover. Fury dodges fire in an underwater attack scene, his gun pointing up toward the masthead. Unusually composed, his figure stretches out in all directions, dividing the layout into manageable quadrants. Curiously, no Steranko art appears in this title until the third issue. This is 1 of 2 Shield issues by Steranko. /// Steranko gallery

I'm really impressed how much this reminds me of Gulacy! I always knew he was influenced by Steranko, but I had no idea how much! Great lost cover! Thanks!
