Donald Duck / Four Color Comics v2 #318 - Carl Barks art

Donald Duck FC #318
Walt Disney's Donald Duck / Four Color Comics v2 #318, 1951 - Uncle Scrooge loses a ship off the shallow waters of Barnacle Bay, prompting him to send Donald and crew to investigate. With an enormous sea serpent as the culprit, Carl Barks employs several large panels to emphasize scale. His most memorable scene is the first glimpse of the bay itself, a peacefully quiet natural setting (see interior page below). Barks superbly details rocks, forests and undulating waves. Interestingly, the sea serpent resembles one Barks also drew for "Terror of the River" in Four Color Comics v2 #108. This tale was later reprinted in Donald Duck Adventures #18 and >Walt Disney Comics Digest #34. This is 19 of 43 Donald Duck issues by Barks.
