Nukla #4 - Steve Ditko art & cover

Steve Ditko
Nukla v1 #4, 1966 - Dell Comics' nuclear age superhero makes his final appearance with this fourth and final issue. Steve Ditko makes his only contribution to the series, one of only a handful of the publisher. With the exception of a panel here and there, the artist's distinctive style gets lost beneath the inks of Sal Trapani. His most recognizable panels are the lunar landscapes on page 16 and the opening scene on page 23. Similarly, Ditko's cover pales compared to his silver age works for Charlton, Marvel and DC. This is number 1 of 1 Nukla issues with Ditko art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Nukla or Ditko issues. See also this blog's Ditko checklist.
