Jim Starlin |
2. Marvel Super-Heroes v2 #47 featuring the Hulk and Sub-Mariner, 1974 - Primarily known for its 1960s reprints, this long running title sporadically used brand new cover art. The transformation from Bruce Banner to the Hulk has been drawn many times before but never with this much visceral power. Jim Starlin perfectly captures the character's excruciating pain and subsequent rage. The background crackles and glows with raw energy. Although the publication date is 1974, the style suggests it was drawn perhaps a year or two earlier. Of his many bronze age Marvel covers, this is arguably his finest. Other artists in this issue include Marie Severin, Frank Giacoia and Dan Adkins. This is 2 of 2 Marvel Super-Heroes v2 issues by Starlin. /// Top 10 Starlin comics
