Captain Action #5 - Wally Wood art

Captain Action v1 #5, 1969 - In this final issue of the series, more cataclysmic events draw the attention of Captain Action and Action Boy. After an absence in issue #4, Wally Wood returns to apply his distinctive inking style to Gil Kane's pencils. Slightly less impressive than the previous issues, the layouts, pacing and overall aesthetics seem tamer by comparison. The artwork nonetheless boasts four full page splashes, and Captain Action's feat of strength depicted on page 22 (see interior page below) is a superlative effort. The cover is by Gil Kane. This is number 4 of 4 Captain Action issues with Wood art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Wood or Captain Action issues. See also this blog's Wood checklist.
