Frank Frazetta |
Straight Arrow v1 #22, 1952 - A savage indian attacks a woman and child while Straight Arrow intervenes to save them. These brutal depictions (with racial tinges) were all too common in 1950s comics.
Frank Frazetta succeeds in depicting wanton violence, especially the crazed look on the attacker's face. The layout is hectic, but pulls together cohesively thanks to its artful design. Other artists in this issue include Fred Meagher and Bob Powell. This is 2 of 2
