House of Mystery v1 #277, 1980 - Steve Ditko drew few DC horror covers, which makes this one a rarity. This collage of menacing faces is both disturbing and captivating. The warm color palette of the background directly contrasts against the victim's cool monotone suit, which in turn ties into the masthead. Stylistically, it evokes Ditko's Charlton work from the 1950s. Other artists in this issue include Mar Amongo, Al Milgrom, Howard Chaykin and Romeo Tanghal (no Marshall Rogers art despite attribution in comic book guides).
