Persepolis GN (graphic novel), 2003 - Previously published in France, Marjane Satrapi's graphic novel is translated for the first time in English by Pantheon books. She chronicles her childhood growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution in the 1970s. Drawn in a simple, graphic style, the artwork is both innocent and poignant. Her firsthand account of these events is highly illuminating, even from the perspective of a child. Sadly, Satrapi passed away in the summer of 2026.
