X-Men #14 - Jack Kirby / Wally Wood cover

Jack Kirby / Wally Wood
X-Men v1 #14, 1965 - Scientist Bolivar Trask creates an army of Sentinels for the sole purpose of protecting mankind from mutants. Jack Kirby's cover looks clunky and imbalanced (even with Wally Wood's inks). The heroes stumble in as a Sentinel corners Professor X (why does the telekinetic Marvel Girl need to swing in on a rope?). Kirby's interior layouts fare no better as his contribution is mostly imperceptible. This is number 14 of 17 X-Men issues with Kirby art and/or covers (not including reprints) and number 1 of 1 X-Men issues with Wood art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Kirby, Wood or X-men issues. See also this blog's Kirby checklist or Wood checklist.
