1984 #3 |
1984 (magazine) v1 #3, 1978 - Scientists from the future travel back in time to witness the first stirrings of life on Earth.
Alex Nino employs an unusual grid system throughout most of the pages, placing smaller panels above and large, roomy panels below. When a microscopically-reduced space cruiser encounters living bacteria, the artist extends the bottom panels horizontally across the spread. The result is three disturbing yet stunning panoramas. Other artists in this bronze age science fiction magazine include Richard Corben, Abel Laxamana, Herb Arnold, Alfredo Alcala, Jim Janes, Esteban Maroto, Jose Ortiz and Rudy Nebres. Cover by Patrick Woodroffee. This is 3 of 10
