Fantastic Four v1 #85, 1969 - Their powers suppressed, the heroes are trapped in a small European country ruled by Dr. Doom himself. The quaint village setting is meticulously detailed, particularly in its traditional architecture. On other pages,
Jack Kirby fills panels with highly complex machinery (see interior page below) of equal quality. Nearly as compelling is the splash on page 18, revealing an unmasked, yet obscured Dr. Doom posing regally for a painting. Thoughtfully drawn and paced throughout, the artist demonstrates the skillfulness of an experienced hand. This is 85 of 116
