(Beware the Claws of) The Cat v2 #1, 1972 - Containing the first appearance and origin of this feminist super-heroine, this premiere issue also boasts an exceptional cover by
Wally Wood. The multi-scene background is complex without being chaotic, thanks to his organized layout and the monochromatic red palette.
The Cat's image on the lower right similarly repeats itself on the following splash page in bold dramatic form. Wood's story inks showcase his fine craftsmanship and penchant for drawing the female figure. Kudos also to Marie Severin's fine pencilling job. Years later, this character would several transform herself into the were-woman Tigra, passing on this identity and costume to another heroine. Written by Linda Fite, this issue is 1 of 1
