Dynamo #3 - Wally Wood art & cover

Dynamo #3, 1967 - The lead Dynamo tale is laid out more conservatively than previous issues, perhaps due to Wally Wood relinquishing more to his assistants. The looming figure on the opening splash lacks definition, and subsequent pages contain far too many panels. By contrast, Wood's cover is exceptional in composition and precise in its draftsmanship. The x-shaped placement of elements is thoughtfully framed within the Earth's background curvature. The darkly quiet void beneath the masthead nicely suggests the vastness of space. Other artists in this issue include Chic Stone and George Tuska. This is number 3 of 4 Dynamo issues with Wood art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Wood or Dynamo issues.
