Barry Windsor Smith |
Machine Man (limited series) v2 #3, 1984 -
Barry Smith's cover design begins to look a tad static, but makes sense given its order in the sequence of covers. Inside, the artist continues to impress and even surpasses some of his works from a decade earlier. Of the two splash pages, the one of an enormous floating sanctuary is the more compelling. Almost dreamlike, the scene contains a detailed moon (see interior page below) reminiscent of another Smith drew in
Marvel Premiere #3. Among the many superbly rendered panels, page 17's menacing shot of the Iron Man of 2020 is the most exciting of all. This copper age series was reprinted in the
Machine Man trade paperback. This is 3 of 4
Machine Man v2 issues by
Smith.
