Perhaps I'm biased, but I think there's a reason the art of John Romita (Senior) rocketed the character to heights his published side arguably never enjoyed again. <br /><br />It is no surprise that Romita's Spider-Man art was adopted/used as licensing art for decades, more than the work of any other artist. I cannot think of another comic artist with a stronger, cross media connection with a character than Romita.
