1994 #20 - Alex Nino art, Nestor Redondo cover

Nestor Redondo
1994 magazine v1 #20, 1981Nestor Redondo's most risque work, this painted cover depicts a young woman ensnared by a sea creature. This image is all the more unlikely given the artist's religious devotion. Alex Nino renders two separate tales in this issue. In the first, Dr. Pavlov returns to do psychoanalysis on another troubled patient. Small panels are inset within intricately drawn spreads throughout most of the tale. As usual, the amount of detail and effort is in itself impressive. "Spearchucker Spade" is also unconventional in its layouts, filled with an array of futuristic transport and technologies. On this story, Nino's superb craftsmanship is on full display. Other artists in this bronze age science fiction magazine include Esteban Maroto. This is 10 of 17 1994 issues by Nino and 1 of 1 1994 issues by Redondo. /// Nino gallery
