Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #142 - Carl Barks art & cover

Carl Barks
Walt Disney's Comics and Stories v1 #142, 1952 - Planning a trouble-free holiday, Donald Duck takes his nephews on a houseboat in the middle of Lake Erie. Carl Barks takes this innocuous setting and turns it into a farce, culminating in an incident at Niagara Falls. As usual, his lively drawings only add to the amusing storyline. On the last page, the artist uses a magnifying glass as a visual device, a concept that sets him apart from his peers in this genre. Barks' cover is nearly as engaging. This story was later reprinted in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #370. Other artists in this golden age comic include Paul Murry. This is 102 of 280 Walt Disney's Comics and Stories issues by Barks.
