Adventure Comics v1 #492, 1982 - Master Man conjures an army of ancient gods, intent on destroying Captain Marvel and company. Despite Don Newton's appealing pencils, inker John Calnan struggles to maintain clarity and definition. Several of the characters' faces and figures appear modified from the intent. On the positive side, the initial layouts are intact, including the splash on page 5. This story was later reprinted in Shazam! The World's Mightiest Mortal #3. This digest also features the Legion of Super-heroes (in their first encounter with Supergirl), Black Canary by Alex Toth tale (from Adventure Comics #419) and the golden age Sandman by Jack Kirby. This is 8 of 8 Adventure Comics issues by Newton.
