Tarzan #234 - Joe Kubert art & cover, Alex Nino art, Russ Manning reprint

Joe Kubert
Tarzan v1 #234, 1974 - Concluding the adaptation of Tarzan and the Lion Man, the title character encounters a tribe of wild humans and sub-humans. Joe Kubert illustrates the tale with the same zeal as previous issues. His drawings, layouts and pacing display the hand of a seasoned veteran, especially his double-page spread at the beginning. Alex Nino shows similar skills on his last Korak story on the series. His sharp layouts offset the rough quality of his renditions. The issue's longest tale belongs to Russ Manning, whose newspaper strip reprints appear in comics for the first time. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Carmine Infantino and Ruben Moreira. This is 28 of 44 Tarzan issues by Kubert and 4 of 4 Tarzan issues by Nino.
