Teen-age Diary Secrets #4 - Matt Baker art

Teen-age Diary Secrets #4
Teen-age Diary Secrets v1 #4, 1949 - Starving for attention, young Marian dates as many boys as she can, breaking up couples along the way. The artwork is stronger toward the beginning, perhaps due to the more posh settings. In separate tale, teenage Ginny moves to a new town and starts afresh, drastically changing her looks and personality. The absence of a large opening page seems to diminish the story's importance, but the remaining pages meets expectations. Both efforts are examples of Matt Baker's early work in the romance genre. His supple linework puts him well ahead of his peers, but it's clear the artist was still developing his craft. "I Was Tired of Being Good" was later reprinted (retitled "I Carried Things Too Far") in Teen-Age Romances #18 while "Breaking Hearts Was My Hobby" (retitled "I Stole Boyfriends") appeared later in both Pictorial Romances #8 and Teen-Age Romances #39. Other artists in this golden age romance comic include Warren Kremer. This is 1 of 6 Teen-Age Diary Secrets issues by Baker.
