Adventure Comics #256 - Jack Kirby art

Adventure Comics #256
Adventure Comics v1 #256, 1959 - Recalling his time being stranded on an uncharted island, Oliver Queen recalls how he came to be the Green Arrow. Jack Kirby does an admirable job illustrating this revised origin story. There's a crispness to his work from this period and this one is no exception. Atypically, he also appears to be responsible for both the pencils and the inks. This is the last of his Green Arrow back-up tales in Adventure Comics. This story was later reprinted in DC Special Blue Ribbon Digest #9 and Secret Origins of the Super DC Heroes. Other artists in this golden age comic include Ramona Fradon. Cover by Curt Swan.
