Detective Comics #495 - Don Newton art

Detective Comics v1 #495, 1980 - When he discovers the Crime Doctor knows the Batman's identity, Sterling Silversmith sends his minions to seek him out. Don Newton again delivers a dependably drawn effort. No one page or panel stands out, but overall his artwork captures the typically dark mood and settings. Frank Chiaramonte's inks tend be tighter than his peers, but in this case he maintains the spontaneity of the pencils. Robin, Batgirl and Black Lightning are also featured in this issue. Other artists in this issue include Jim Aparo, Jose Delbo and Dan Spiegle. See today's posts or more Newton or Detective Comics issues. See also this blog's Newton checklist.
