Tarzan #217 - Joe Kubert art & cover

Joe Kubert
Tarzan of the Apes v1 #217, 1972 - Hearing of a black queen that enslaves her subjects, Tarzan travels to uncharted territory to investigate. Joe Kubert continues his run on the series, employing a two-page splash and several large panels to showcase his artistry. Tarzan comes face-to-face with a coal-black lion in the most startling sequence of the story. Kubert's cover is more than adequate, but suffers compared to the interiors. Other artists in this bronze age comic include Murphy Anderson. This is 11 of 44 Tarzan issues by Kubert.
