Adventure Comics #495 - Alex Toth art, Neal Adams, Jack Kirby reprints

Adventure Comics #495
Adventure Comics v1 #495, 1983 - After surviving a sabotaged flight, the Challengers delve into their recent pasts to determine a motive and a suspect. This first of three installments is just adequately drawn by Alex Toth. His layouts are better, utilizing an array of panel shapes and placements that stand out from the norm. Frank Giacoia's inks stiffen many of the figures, but not to the story's detriment. Among the digest's reprints, Neal Adams' Spectre tale (from Spectre #2) and Jack Kirby's Sandman (from Adventure Comics #84) rise above the rest. Other artists in this copper age digest include George Papp and Jim Aparo. This is 5 of 7 Adventure Comics issues by Toth. /// Toth gallery
