Unusual Tales #25 - Steve Ditko art & cover

Steve Ditko
Unusual Tales v1 #25, 1960 - A Civil War historian buys a plantation-era house, only to find the ghosts of the Confederacy still linger on the premises. Steve Ditko opens the tale with a contingent of Southern soldiers on the attack. Subsequently, the panels seem to crowd and overwhelm the main character. That aside, Ditko's illustrations do the job. The story's highlight his eerie rendition of a female apparition (see interior page below). Ironically, the cover reprints three interior panels, but the new configuration seems much more compelling. Other artists in this silver age comic include Rocco Mastroserio, Bill Molno and Vince Alascia. This is 14 of 18 Unusual Tales issues by Ditko.
