Captain America v1 #247, 1980 - Just as Cap's wartime memories start to return, his old foe Baron Strucker goes on the attack. John Byrne begins an impressive run on this series. The story primarily looks into the hero's real past, coming full circle as he settles into a new environment. The Brooklyn Bridge is prominently featured on the opening splash, its magnificent structure dwarfing even Captain America. Interestingly, he uses his original (triangular) shield in battle for the first time in decades. Byrne's drawing style brings a naturalism to the character not seen in quite a while.
