Vacation Parade #3 - Al Hubbard art

Walt Disney's Vacation Parade #3 / Dell Giant, 1952 - Like most giant Dell comics of the era, this issue contains plenty of comics, games, crafts and sing-alongs. The main stories feature Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse, but the real gem is the short Brer Rabbit tale by Al Hubbard. His rendition of the South of the South characters is better than most, infusing them with feeling and expression. On the large opening panel, the artist pulls foreground shadows behind the title, nicely increasing contrast and legibility. Other characters featured in this issue include Pluto, Seven Dwarves, Bucky Bug, Grandma Duck, Chip n' Dale, Pinocchio, Goofy, Lil Bad Wolf and Uncle Scrooge. This is number 1 of 1 Vacation Parade issues with Hubbard art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Hubbard or Vacation Parade issues. See also this blog's Hubbard checklist.
