Disneyland USA / Dell Giant #30 - Al Hubbard art

Dell Giant #30 / Disneyland USA, 1960 - Each story within this giant-sized issue is set in a different area of Disneyland, cleverly promoting the theme park as a whole. Al Hubbard makes a significant contribution, drawing three superb segments. His renditions of Mickey Mouse and Goofy in the first tale are not often seen, but nicely meet expectations. In "The Scary All-Girl Safari", the artist deftly juggles multiple Disney characters (Daisy Duck, Grandma Duck, Clarabelle Cow and Minnie Mouse) within a relatively brief page count. His remaining story features Pinocchio, Chip n' Dale and Scamp in the only non-park related adventure in the book. All three of his efforts are lovingly drawn and display an impressive versatility across different characters. Other stories within the issue feature Uncle Scrooge & Gyro Gearloose, Donald Duck and his nephews, the Three Little Pigs and Mickey's trio of nephews. See today's posts or more Hubbard issues.
