Western Kid #12 - non-attributed Russ Heath cover
Western Kid #9, 1956 - With dramatic flair, the cover captures one cowboy's dilemma: how to fend off an encroaching gang with a single bullet left. Russ Heath's hero stands in partial darkness, his shadowed areas beautifully textured in fine lines. The main character's two-tone coloration offers a contrast to the gunman outside, while also suggesting the intensity of the scene. Heath's covers would be some of the most memorable of the western genre. This is number 1 of 1 Western Kid issues with Heath art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Heath or Western Kid issues.
