Alex Toth illustrates his second back-up story featuring a 1930's mob hitman nicknamed the Torpedo. Each page strictly adheres to a grid of nine equally sized panels. The effect gives the feel of a newspaper strip from a much older era. The artist's drawings are more graphic than usual, but convey the plot with an almost minimalist clarity. The bottom of page six shows a compelling portrait of Torpedo: a single eye peers out from the deep shadow of his wide-brim hat. Toth's Torpedo stories seem unlikely inclusions for a long-running horror/fantasy title. Other artists this bronze age magazine include Auraleon, Jose Gonzales, Paul Gillon, Esteban Maroto and Gonzalo Mayo. This is 3 of 3

By this time Toth had done a lot of storyboards for Hanna-Barbera. Perhaps this influenced his choices for drawing style and panel layout. Just a suggestion.
