Durango Kid #1 - Frank Frazetta art + 1st Dan Brand, Tipi

Durango Kid #1
Durango Kid v1 #1, 1949 - Accompanying the main Durango Kid feature, Dan Brand and Tipi make their first appearance and begin as a back-up series. His origin is recounted in colonial Philadelphia, where the murder of his fiancee prompts him to head west in search of the killer. Frank Frazetta starts his first and only continuing series in comics. Scenes of high society quickly give way to the wilderness of indian country. Frazetta's style seems perfectly suited for this genre, combining heroic action with the outdoor frontier. This story was later reprinted in White Indian #11. This is 1 of 16 Durango Kid issues by Frazetta. /// key 1st appearance, 1st origin Dan Brand, Tipi, 1st issue / Frazetta gallery

Great website! I love the top notch artist profiles and background history on their careers. I have one questions for you though: With all the great coverage of legendary team, Al WIllaimson?Frank Frazetta, why don't we see anything coverage from their work on "John Wayne Adventure Comics" by Toby Press, 1950? This series has some really great art. Just curious?

Keep up the great work,
Robbie

I try to review issues I personally own or scans from various sources. The Frazetta/Williamson John Wayne issues are especially hard to find and I've only seen individual pages of original art. I'm hoping someone out there will eventually provide scans of the those issues to the general public.
