Gunsmoke Western #36 - Al Williamson art

Gunsmoke Western #36

Gunsmoke Western v1 #36, 1956 - An infamous outlaw arrives in a small frontier town, upsetting the local residents. Like much of Al Williamson's work for Atlas, the story is brief and succinct. The large panel on the opening page draws readers in with fine details. The layout and pacing are effective, especially toward the end where silhouetted figures build to a climax, revealing the outlaw's face. Other artists in this golden age comic include Gene Colan. Cover by Joe Maneely. This is 3 of 5 Gunsmoke Western issues by Williamson.
