Kull #1 - Wally Wood art + 1st issue

Kull #1
Kull (the Conquerer) v1 #1, 1971 - After making his first appearance in Creatures on the Loose #10, the hero's adventures begin with this first issue. Wally Wood provides the inks over Ross Andru's pencils, giving the drawings a more sophisticated finish. Barbaric figures and primitive settings all benefit from his steady and skillful draftsmanship. The montage of scenes featuring Kull's historical background (page 14) is particularly good. Sadly, this would be Wood's only contribution to the series. This issue, later reprinted in Kull and the Barbarians #1, also includes a superb cover by Marie Severin. This is 1 of 1 Kull issues by Wood. /// key 1st issue

Kull #1 was not Penciled by Ross Andru and Inked by Wallace Wood. They were EQUAL collaborating ARTISTS on the issue. Their names are listed EQUALLY in alphabetical order. Actually, if anyone, WOOD was the primary artist and was ANNOUNCED as such in the publisher's official news outlet of the time which was MarvelMania Magazine.

The layouts, perspective and anatomy are all Andru.
Wood did a superb inking job, adding the sort of details and flourishes he was famous for.
But the structure, the "bones", the storytelling is Ross Andru.
