Daredevil #166 - Frank Miller art & cover

Daredevil #166, 1980 - It's appropriate that a Roman arena is the setting for Daredevil's confrontation with the Gladiator. Frank Miller's drawing seems hurried, especially compared to his inside story. Some pages are busier than others but well-composed nonetheless. Miller's is most impressive displaying the hero's amazing acrobatics on page 2 (see interior page above). The largest panel in the issue (not including the opening splash), it reveals the artist's growing confidence with depicting the character. This is number 8 of 33 Daredevil issues with Miller art and/or covers. See today's posts or more Miller or Daredevil issues. See also this blog's Frank Miller checklist.
