Giant-size Man-Thing #5 - Frank Brunner art

Giant-size Man-Thing #5

9. Giant-size Man-Thing v1 #5, 1975 - Although a showcase for the Man-Thing, this issue does benefit from a short Howard the Duck tale (only his third appearance). Frank Brunner illustrates a farcical tale of a cow bitten by Count Dracula. Humor and horror are combined seamlessly, drawn with an unexpected realism. The opening splash of Howard moping in a jail cell is strangely empathetic, made more so by the somber mood of Tom Palmer's inks. This story was later reprinted in Marvel Treasury #12. Tom Sutton also contributes a splendid effort for the main Man-Thing feature. Other artists in this bronze age comic include John Buscema, Tom Sutton, Ed Hannigan and Dan Adkins. Cover by Gil Kane. This is 2 of 2 Giant-size Man-Thing issues by Brunner. /// Top 10 Brunner comics

The Howard The Duck tale was reprinted in Howard The Duck Treasury I think.
