Breathtakingly illustrated, the artist maintains a gritty, serious tone in his only solo story for EC. In Wally Wood's tale, racism festers in a suburban neighborhood, resulting in harassment and cross burnings. His artwork is also outstanding, focusing on character moods and interactions. Wood's delicate lines and harsh shadows give weight to the somber theme and plot. Other artists in this golden age comic include Jack Kamen, Jack Davis and Reed Crandall.
