Alien Worlds v1 #9, 1985 - In addition to the flowing brushstrokes he was well known for, Frank Brunner experiments with stippling effects in this tale of a mysterious tarot reader. The resulting variety of patterns and textures are fascinating. Visually, the drawings perfectly enhance the story's magical plot and theme. I only wish he would have pursued this approach and further developed its evolution. Other artists in this copper age science fiction comic include Mike Hoffman and Bo Hampton. Cover by John Bolton.
